The sum is greater than the parts

GreenMatter is investing in building collaborative networks

Complex challenges, especially those related to environmental and social systems cannot be addressed by any single organisation. Networks and collaboration are the bedrock of systems change allowing for the integration of ideas, resources and actions that lead to meaningful impact.

But who is the Environmental Sector?

There are hundreds if not thousands of entities in South Africa working to transition to a sustainable, green economy. Most will be involved in capacity building in some way, even if it is solely within the organisation. Many organisations collaborate on multi-year, multi-million rand initiatives and funded projects which involve local training and capacity development. Others are collaborating on national skills strategies like the Biodiversity Human Capital Development Strategy. But where does one go to learn about who is doing what to drive green skills development?

Before we can change a system we need to understand it.
That is why GreenMatter is embarking on a project to map and understand the sector and capacity building activities that make up the environmental skills ecosystem. Get in touch to put yourself and your projects on the map!
